Is this sweet or what?

My daughter LOVES our cat. LOVES. Poor kitty. She has “conversations” with Izzy by meowing at him. She loves to pet him, and lay on him as if he was a pillow. She pokes at his paws, gives him hugs and kisses, and tries to pick him up. He’s kind of fat, though, so he’s too heavy for her to actually get him off the ground… but still, she tries. Every day.
He’s a good cat, though. He sits there and tolerates all her “love” aka kitty abuse. He will look at me with his big kitty eyes, begging me to rescue him, but otherwise he just sits really still and waits it out. And don’t worry, I never let her do anything that would actually hurt him. It just irritates him.
But if you could see the way her eyes light up when she finds him in a room!
I just got home from the last day of ordering at Janie and Jack in Towsontown Center. I am exhausted, but I can’t resist posting a few images from the week. These kids are seriously TOO cute!

I often just LOVE the nontraditional shots of children. I took plenty of images of children sitting and smiling at the camera, but sometimes these speak more to me.
Tune in tomorrow for more images…
emilie: I love the chubby baby girl with the crocheted blanket on her head. I don't know how to describe it, but it is beyond sweet.
James and Mihoko: Wow, good work Jen, on the photos and the blog. We loved being part of your photo shoot.
I had SO MUCH fun this week at Janie and Jack in Towsontown Center. I met a lot of beautiful babies and their beautiful parents.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the space or time to share them ALL, but I will share my favorites. I’ll do a few each day, so I don’t totally overwhelm you with massive posts.

Mom and baby are BOTH gorgeous, aren’t they?

I’ve always wanted to photograph twins! Check out that sly smile!

These two sisters had so much love for each other.

What a cutie!

I LOVE that wrinkled nose.
There are plenty more that I will be sharing shortly…. check back tomorrow!
This little guy was so beautiful! We got him to sleep for a little bit, but he wasn’t too fond of being on his belly.
I could look at that precious face all day.

He just loved kicking his legs in the basket!

I love the furrowed brow.

He really wanted to be on his side, even sound asleep he squirmed until he was off his belly.
Thank you so much for having me over! Your little one is so beautiful.
Kristy Lynn: SO cute! Love the third one!
Jennifer Aguilar: What a beautiful baby! These pictures are gorgeous. I love the facial expressions you captured.
Ok, I have nothing to blame this one on. I spent 3 days this week at Janie and Jack in Towsontown Center shooting some seriously adorable kids, babies, and their families, and I am up to my ears in editing so the families can view their images next week. I ended up having 33 sessions in 3 days, and I really had a blast! I hope to be able to share some of my favorite images with you next week.
So, yes, I was so “in the zone” with my editing that I completely forgot what day it was! Shame on me.
Friends are like family, are they not? Today I want to talk about my dear friend emilie. emilie and I met way back in the day when we were both Art majors at Towson University. Gosh, that was about 10 years ago! Ok, I feel old now.
Anyway, emilie is a brilliant, brilliant person. She is very into the arts and design, and is a huge supporter of local crafters. She knows a ton about the business of art, and has taught me a lot (I wouldn’t be here today without her!).
She has always wanted to have her own gallery, so her solution to that right now is Stella Design Gallery. It’s in a blog format, where she talks about different artists, crafters, designers, and others. She’s got information on new exhibits, Call for Entries for upcoming shows, interviews with artists and photographs of new pieces, current events in the art world (including events local to Baltimore), and much more. She’s got a great writing style, as well. Anyway, check her out! You won’t be disappointed.
Sorry no photos today. I should have taken a photo of emilie when she was visiting last night.
It was a birthday filled weekend! N must have heard us refer to this as a “cake smash” session, and he took it quite literally. While he was unsure of the cake at first, he eventually warmed up to it and had a LOT of fun squishing it all around. Hey, cake is full of fun texture!

What a cutie! Thank you so much for having me!
Zoe: You are rocking these cake sessions!!! The lighting is superb, and the baby is adorable!
Jane Photo: I don't think I've ever seen a cake quite so demolished. That is really fun. She looks like a blast. Great images.
Shelby A.: Oh my word, that looks like so much FUN! Love the images, and the baby has such pretty eyes!
I really love cake smash sessions. I love them so much that I am currently working on a cake smash package! I’ll post more when it’s finalized.
But on to THIS cake smash…
This little guy had the BEST expressions. He wasn’t so much into the cake, though.

I had a really HARD time choosing which images to show you on your sneak peek! I had a lot of fun with J yesterday. Happy Birthday, little guy!
Holy wow, what is this? A family friday post… ON Friday?
One reader wrote to me, “I love Family Fridays! However, as much as I love reading about your daughter (and seeing her cute face in photos), don’t forget about yourself! I want to hear about the gal behind the lens.”
Well! Um… I’m not really that interesting.
But if you want to know about me, I guess I can try…
Let’s see. Well, my name is Jen! (ok, so you knew that already). I like photography? (Weak, I know)
I’m 29 years old. I plan on staying 29 for quite some time. I have an unhealthy addiction to Sci Fi. Seriously, I devour it all. I took a little break from it for a couple of years, but now I am back with a vengeance. I go to the library once a week with my daughter and I always check out a DVD or two, I love that they have TV series there! I’m working my way through Battlestar Galactica this way, and I’m borrowing Stargate:SG1 from a friend. I adore Doctor Who (new series is good, but I prefer classic Who, I’m a Tom Baker girl at heart). Star Trek: The Next Generation brought me into Sci Fi in the first place. Star Wars (Original Trilogy, I’ve disowned the 2nd trilogy) will always have a place in my heart. And a ton more. Red Dwarf, Stargate: Atlantis, the other 800 shows in the Star Trek universe, Firefly, etc.
But, no, that is NOT how my daughter got her name. Let me clear that up. I’ve got no problem with people naming their children after characters they love, but Kaylee was named well before I saw Firefly (I only recently had the pleasure of watching it). Just so it’s out there.
I love spring and fall. I’m addicted to the internet. I’m tone deaf (but love to sing anyway).
I’m afraid of spiders, I love to stargaze, and I make a mean eclair pie.
Every week I buy a cheap bouquet of grocery store flowers to put on the table. It cheers up the room.
I was hoping to use this entry to introduce the newest member of our family, but FedEx delayed it another day. So that will have to wait. (I switched to the Dark Side and bought an iMac! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow… it was supposed to be here today. I am really no good at being patient.)
Lauren: We want a picture! We want a picture! You're very interesting, just like the rest of your family!
