The blog has been quiet, I apologize. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the new year.

I have officially started my maternity leave. I will be back and booking sessions at the end of March/beginning of April, which means I will be opening my calender to reserve session times at the end of February. Our little one is set to arrive any day now and we are thrilled!

And because I can’t post without a photo, here is a shot of my excited 2 year old during the big storm last month. (This was taken before it got so high that she couldn’t walk in it! We ended up with around 2 feet of snow when all was said and done)

I have just two dates remaining for full sessions before my holiday delivery cut off. So if you are looking to have a full session done to make your holiday cards or to get prints made to use as gifts, let me know! There are also a few timeslots left for the Holiday mini sessions in November. Don’t delay, because they are booking up fast as well!

Holiday Mini Sessions!

September 2, 2009

I am pleased to announce this year’s holiday mini sessions will take place on Nov 14th at a beautiful historic area in Harford County. I have several packages available. Spaces are limited, so don’t wait to book!

I apologize for the long hiatus. I promise I had good reason!

We recently found out that our little family is going to grow again! That’s right, I’m excited to announce that I am pregnant with our second child! We are completely thrilled by the news and can’t wait to meet our newest little one sometime around January 31, 2010.

So because of this I have taken a little time off. I had forgotten how exhausting the first trimester can be. But, I’m back in the saddle and am resuming portrait sessions this weekend, so you can expect this blog to start hopping again.

If you are thinking holiday photos (and you should be, it’s coming up faster than you think!), my cut off for Christmas delivery is Nov 21. If you want to get custom holiday cards made (I have some super cute designs this year) you might want to get started on that a bit earlier. I will be announcing holiday mini sessions shortly, so stay tuned.

There will be some other exciting news to be announced soon, too! New digital packages are in the works for 2010, and a few other surprises are on their way.

I will be taking sessions up through December 12. After this, I will be closing for the holidays and this will transition directly into my maternity leave. I will keep you posted on how long I expect to be out (it all depends on when the little one decides to make its arrival!) I will make some exceptions for maternity and newborn clients as they are extremely time sensitive.

I am currently completely booked for August; September and October are filling up quickly….so if you are thinking about getting some beautiful portraits made, don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

emily: Congratulations - that is big news. And my birthday is also January 31. That is a good day to be born. :-)

Michelle: Congrats! What a great reason to be away!

I will be leaving today and won’t return until Sunday evening. I’ll be back in the swing of things Monday morning.

Where am I going? To an awesome photography workshop! I am so pumped. It is a small group of us gathering to learn from one of the best, Andrea Joki, flying in from Finland! I will have sporadic email access while away, so it may take longer for me to respond than usual.

And what is a post without images? Here is a peek into a recent Trash the Dress session up in Philly. It was a LOT of fun.

Today is the last day to bid in the silent auction to benefit the Baltimore Child Abuse Center. I have a gift certificate there, good for a session and an 11×14 wall portrait! It’s a $175 value and is currently only $45! There are also a lot of other great items, including restaurant gift certificates, a one night stay for two at a nice hotel, a round of golf with the Police Commissioner, a massage, etc. Father’s Day is around the corner, or you could just treat yourself. It’s tax deductible and going to a great cause, so go out there and bid!

Pardon the Mess…

April 30, 2009

I also forgot to mention… pardon the mess on my website — It’s a work in progress.

I am working on gutting my site and starting over with all new images and an all new look. Unfortunately, that takes time and between shooting sessions, editing, meetings, a very active toddler… ok, so I’m full of excuses.

Either way, I am actively working on it. So, for now, some images have borders, some do not. Eventually, everything will have borders and be awesome looking! But for now it’s a bit awkward and I apologize. I am one of those people who has to have everything matching so it’s going to make me twitchy until I finish it!

I can’t believe I forgot to blog about this!

Friday May 8th, starting at 8am there will be a Charity Golf Tournament at the Pine Ridge Golf Course in Lutherville, MD. Last I heard there were still a few foursomes available if you are interested. The tournament is to benefit the Baltimore Child Abuse Center. I am donating a free session + 11×14 wall print to the auction so go and help raise money.

Getting settled in, yet again!

February 13, 2009

Pardon the mess, here.  I found a new template that I fell in love with, so there may be a bit of dust around here as I finalize everything.  It shouldn’t be too long before all the detailed are ironed out.

I also wanted to take this time to point out some of the new features here!  My favorite, of course, is the bigger photos.  bigger=better!  (If things become too big for you, feel free to let me know and I can try to tone it down)  Also, take a look at the bottom of each post!  There are now little icons you can click on which will post an entry to your favorite social networking site.  So if you want to share your session sneak peek with your facebook friends, all you have to do it click on the facebook icon!  You can also digg it, prop it, and add it to google bookmarks, among other options.  I’m also loving my new banner, which will probably change constantly.  If you haven’t noticed by now, I love to change things up.

I also am going to (try to) institute something new to keep this blog fresh: Family Friday!  Just a little time for me to talk about what’s going on behind the lens, so you can get to know me and my beautiful family.

And since today is Friday, here we go.

This is my daughter Kaylee. I’ve talked about her plenty before on here but I don’t think I’ve ever given her a proper introduction. She’s 15 months old and she is amazing! Her favorite thing to do is point out bodyparts. She’s got plenty of them down, but “eye” and “arm” are her favorites, and she announces what it is as she pokes you. (”EYE!” as she stabs her finger in your eye) She does this all day long, and she especially loves to be quizzed. (”Kaylee, where is your leg?” “Where is your butt?” “Where is your ear?”)

As you can see in the photo (which I am cheating, I apologize, I did not take it this week), she also loves to have “big hands”– watch out if you leave your gloves laying around.

She has learned to open zippers and unscrew things (all in the same day)… how did I find this out? She got really quiet (why is it that being quiet always means there is trouble?) and I peek over at her to find that she’s got my purse around her neck (this is where she likes to wear purses), it’s open, and she’s got my lipgloss open and she’s waving it around like it’s a fairy wand. There is lipgloss all over her face. There is lipgloss all over her shirt. There is lipgloss everywhere.

Must. Not. Giggle.

She’s a girly girl at heart and I love it. She got a new pettiskirt from Grandma today and she insisted on wearing it over her pants all day long. To the point where we had a total toddler meltdown when it was time to take it off so she could take a bath. She wears her plastic bracelets every day (and actually, anything that is circular is a bracelet, she often wears my roll of gaffer’s tape around her arm), she “applies” my chapstick often (luckily she doesn’t know how to take the cap off yet), she has to have a purse on most of the day. I did not try to make her a girly girl, I did not push her in any direction so she could forge her own path, but I must admit I’m so excited for the girliness. I can’t wait for tea parties and dress up!

Well, I’ve probably babbled your ear off, so I hope you will forgive my tangent. I’ll try to have more of a point to my family entry next Friday.

Kristy Franks: beautiful new blog! Awesome work Jen!

Jaime Swanson: Love the new blog Jen! And I adore the idea of Family Fridays!

Valentine’s Mini Sessions

December 16, 2008

I was looking at my calendar the other day when I realized that Christmas is NEXT WEEK!

After Christmas is New Years, and then comes Valentine’s Day.

Well, that got me thinking. We had a lot of fun at the boudoir mini sessions this summer. I am thinking about offering them again– just in time for Valentine’s Day. January 10th, 2009. I haven’t worked out the details yet, but a small album would be included, delivered before Valentine’s Day so you have a nice gift your your significant other.

So, I’m putting the feelers out– is anyone interested? If I get enough interest, I will get this thing rolling! We would be back at the gorgeous Marriott Waterfront Hotel with their gorgeous beds and white sheets. I can (for an additional cost) schedule someone to do hair and makeup for you.

Drop me an email at info@jensnyder.net and let me know your thoughts.
